Between Vannes and Nantes you will find L’Auberge Bretonne, more precisely at La Roche Bernard, a town located in the Vilaine Estuary.
On Place du Guesclin you will find this beautiful building, full of personality with a slate roof and Breton stone walls. As for the interior it is all light and transparency thanks to the numerous windows, to the light walls and floors, the light table cloths and crockery. Let’s also say that there is a very pleasant patio here, bringing a charming touch to the place. It would be a challenge to describe this place in detail! How could we choose, first the cuisine or the wine cellar? Let’s go for the cuisine then. Jacques Thorel composes a very refined cuisine, the priority is clearly fresh products of the best quality. His creative compositions are often renewed, always with products from the region as a base. And as an additional bonus, the presentation is always really refined as well. Both your eyes and your taste buds will enjoy this place... As for the wine cellar now, well Jacques Thorel and his wife have worked during ten years to make it what it is: a prestigious wine list, they really have invested in a fine selection, and the result is here. The wine list is one of the corner stones of the Inn, and one of the best in the country...
It will be difficult to keep some moderation here, and that is no doubt why the establishment has about ten rooms to offer as well, each room paying tribute to one Breton artist. For ideal gourmet the Chef has composed a menu that truly represents the talents of the house, to be tasted as a couple, as a family or for a business lunch. The dishes can of course be adapted according to the guests’ wishes, but they will most of all vary according to the market and our Chef’s findings, making all guests delighted.
This is a must-do of Breton culture!
