The most famous crystal fabric in the world has been illuminating cathedrals, national palaces and royal residences for two centuries now, thanks to magnificent crystal lights.
In 2003, the Baccarat gallery and museum moves into a beautiful private mansion, a place for legends that has belonged to Marie-Laure de Noailles, one of the Marquis de Sade’s heirs, a rich heiress. She was the muse for this splendid place and she was very careful about dedicating one salon to painters, writers and musicians, and this countess of the Bizarre gives magic parties here, making it the place to be in Paris. Of course this was a perfect location for Baccarat. This little gem is located between Etoile and Trocadéro, and it offers visitors access to the Baccarat museum: engraved crystal with gold or polychrome emals, Baccarat pieces really witness to an impeccable know how. The visit (for a fee) is really interesting, it takes you on a journey and allows you to discover the original ball room with its baroque décor, the Solstice lights spreading each of their 48 different lights on the golden lambris. It has been kept true to the original spirit of an Italian palazzo from the 18th century, it still echoes of parties past and is booked for temporary exhibits, private nights, fashion shows or other types of receptions. And at the heart of the splendid salons on the first floor, with a view overlooking the gardens, the Cristal Room is a unique dining room. Philippe Starck managed to keep the original chic, while also giving it a modern touch, a daring one too, that is of course needed for this extreme sophistication, raw brick with lambris and gilded décor, in a happy and shiny atmosphere. And you will of course notice the superb boudoir salon, and its private terrace...
