Close to the old town of Nice, only minutes away from famous Place Masséna, Christian Plumail’s restaurant L’Univers* takes guests on a journey to the heart of Southern cuisine.
Those who love good cuisine love coming to this former brasserie with its sober and nicely classic décor. The walls are white and that really allows you to see the paintings and modern sculptures decorating the place. There are some red touches on the tapestries and along with the fire place separating the two reception areas it gives a cosy and warm atmosphere. You can enjoy a family lunch or dinner, even a business meal here, and you will let yourself be guided by the dynamic and welcoming team at L’Univers*. Christian Plumail has gone the classic yet original way... He opened his first restaurant at 20 and at 26 he is rewarded with his first Michelin star. His restaurant in St Paul de Vence got the same reward. After a trip to the United States that turned out shorter than originally planned, he decides to come back to Nice and in 1992 he settles in this former brasserie. A challenge that proved successful since he got a star there too, and since then he is happy to please his guests for lunch and dinner. For Christian Plumail you should not do too much, his focus is on quality of products and good taste, but of course he allows for some original touches. He offers his guests and regulars a revisited kind of Mediterranean cuisine. And to please the most demanding taste buds, he modernizes traditional dishes, giving a lot of space to vegetables from the region and from the season, as you will experience in the ideal gourmet tasting menu! Southern cuisine that is not too extravagant but precise, it proves every day that Christian Plumail masters products and flavours.
