If the post relays of the past are the inns of today, then Le Grand Monarque has kept going, progressing, asserting itself...
to finally become the Restaurant of reference in Chartres. It has been mentioned in the famous Michelin guide for a hundred years and is located in the heart of town, not far from the small streets of the historic centre and the cathedral. The institution has been run by the same family for a few generations... The Jallerat family is attending to the good functioning of it all, and it can pride itself with having brought many changes through the years, all to the better. The restaurant was entirely renovated and made even nicer very recently, it now presents a bourgeois décor, with classic accents and some adapted modern touches. Laurent Clément’s cuisine is of excellent quality and is in no way tiresome. In this aspect as well tradition lives on, but the Chef knows how to attract new customers, quickly becoming regulars, with his compositions... The wine cellar is a nice one, and the sommelier is very keen on sharing his knowledge and passion about the wines of the Val de Loire!
The Chef has chosen to create an idéal gourmet menu that clearly reflects his know-how, and at a very soft price...
And you cannot talk about the Grand Monarque without mentioning the welcome, the smiles and attentions of Nathalie and Bertrand.
Attentive to their guests’ every wish, they will ensure that your experience is truly a nice and relaxing one, in a beautiful establishment where you can enjoy a very pretty terrace in the shade when the weather allows.
