A few minutes away from the sea, where generous tides teach oyster farmers a few lessons, with an infinite view out to beautiful waters and the big and impressive Chausey islands not so far away, you will find a very special restaurant, a monument to cuisine: Le Mascaret.
The house used to be presbytery, decorated in a traditional and cosy English style...
Originally from Bulgaria, former ballet girl at the opera in Sofia, Nadia is an artist who knows how to read in colours and how to mix different materials. It is original work, one might say, when taking a look at the happy and bright paintings decorating the three separate dining rooms, where one can freely choose a favourite setting for a meal, choose a calm atmosphere or even a private party room...
And what about Philippe in all this ? Well he comes from Normandy, and as Chef has one part of the kingdom. He owns the kitchen, where he composes a traditional and regional cuisine, to which he brilliantly adds vegetables from his own garden. You get an impression of discovering forgotten flavours and smells; it is a pleasure to taste wild crabs or this special salmon, caught a few hours before in the Sienne, the pretty river flowing in front of Le Mascaret.
The place conveys an idea of tradition, of refinement, travel, a restaurant unexpectedly placed here, a dream of an ideal gourmet menu served by the beautiful Nadia, winner of the best hostess trophy in 2002, with elegance.
Bravo!
