We owe these Palais Royal gardens – two hectares of green in the heart of Paris – to the duke of Orléans, future king Philippe-Egalité.
The Comédie Française theatre, the ministry of culture, the Conseil d’Etat... This square of green, kept in the shade by four well-kept double rows of linden trees is very popular...
The restaurant is surrounded by a series of very nicely renovated facades and offers a splendid terrace out to the garden, just under the windows of writer Colette’s former apartment, not far from Cocteau’s. This establishment of good taste welcomes you in a friendly way, always with a smile and an attentionate service.
The decoration is refined and makes the place a must-go for businessmen or regulars of this neighbourhood. There is something of a lounge to it, with comfortable Chesterfield couches, large seats, comfortable armchairs and modern and peaceful warm tones. A very nice little private dining room opens up on the garden thanks to its large windows.
As for the cuisine, it is very well orchestrated by Chef Bruno Hees who knows how to compose with the seasons that define the rhythm of this rather non-typical restaurant in the older parts of Paris. A cuisine that is very much alive, surprising freshness and spirit of innovation, always new.
And then, as soon as the weather allows, this charming establishment can finally reveal its full splendour with its terrace directly open to the Palais royal garden, country-like and welcoming, allowing you to fully take in a Paris of today, birds and passers-by, while choosing in the “ideal gourmet at Palais Royal” menu, between the Chef’s specialties or the compositions of the Day...
A meeting with history!
