The avenue des Ternes is turning gourmet again… After the much regretted departure of Philippe Groult, Amhyclés, now both the Galvacher and Rech are experiencing a come-back, giving to this lively area another good reason to stop here, apart from the all too present shopping…
The décor is Belle Epoque, created by the master of restaurant decoration in the 70’s, Slavic. Patrice Du Jeu is the new owner of the place and he is remaking it with his know-how, according to his traditions. He was wise enough to leave the three reception rooms’ atmosphere untouched: the Mucha is all art déco and colours, the Chasse with saddles, bits and spurs and finally the Belle Epoque, all wood and mirrors. The main dining room on the ground floor offers a very welcoming atmosphere. Seats in imitation leather, Chesterfield type, along the left wall, a symbol of the brasserie atmosphere here at the Galvacher.
Our man knows what he is doing… He is the owner of a farm in the Morvan region, amateur verging on professionalism, and even if he is a beef specialist, his menu also presents guests with fish from the market, duck and lamb. He also wants to be a representative of his region and its gourmet slogan: “Quality, tenderness and taste”.
And let us not forget the Chef… Frédéric Caillault was raised in the countryside of the Berry region, and he has kept memories from his childhood very much alive: the smells of family cuisine, large farm tables, harvest times, days when the pig was slaughtered. And that is why we find specialties from the Berry region on the menu. Here is an excellent address, where the price is reasonable; it is very practical, both for couples and for groups upstairs. The ideal gourmet menu has a firm taste of countryside to it, the welcome is all smiles and the service is attentive, supervised by Laurent Iborra. What else could one wish for?
