What a lucky event that Jean-François Sicallac, a famous Chef, chose to locate his restaurant in the harbour of Concarneau instead of staying in Paris where everyone wanted him in the most famous establishments… Of course the red carpet he got there was glamorous, but it turned out to be boring in the end… So here he is, in an incredible location across from the most active fishing harbour of Southern Finistère, with happy local fishermen as his neighbours, they are artists of the sea just like he is an artist of the kitchen. La Coquille is born again, with a gourmet aura that is truly well deserved.Jean François was born in Quiberon and has got Breton roots along with others from Sarlat and that is truly a happy mix for a Chef who likes products from the sea as much as products from the country side. He went to a hotel and restaurant school in Vannes and then went from establishment to establishment. He learnt at Jamin with Robuchon, stayed for 4 years with Serge Blanco in Hendaye and then went back to Paris, Pavillon Montsouris and then quickly la Tour d’Argent…But let’s get back to what matters, La Coquille… Incredible view overlooking the harbour entrance, the fish market, red and blue boats, buoys of the canal, sea gulls, tidal waters, the ocean…Marie Sicallac is the one in charge of the dining room. She is happy to work in such an exceptional environment and she works along when La Coquille develops. She really knows how to care for her guests and they are often regulars… The décor is sober and elegant, nice fabrics, stone walls, beautiful crockery, everything reflects knowledge of the trade and passion for it. A beautiful private dining room is perfect for family receptions or professional ones. The Chef works with the fishermen and they get him the best… Fish and shellfish are kings here. But of course our talented Chef knows how to treat meat and poultry as well. The ideal gourmet menu shows it, the happy guest will discover all the specialties of the house, according to the market and the Chef’s mood.
