Now here is a very nice institution paying tribute to the most beautiful avenue in the world thanks to a perfect view from its splendid reception areas, for gourmets and connoisseurs.
This restaurant was built in one of Louis XIVth’s hunting pavilions. Louis Philippe asked architect Hittorff for a project to transform the place de la Concorde and create a grand avenue all the way to place de l’Etoile. In 1860, a certain Monsieur Laurent is the owner of the place and the name has stuck to it ever since. Laurent has been through numerous changes, innovations and renovations ever since. In 1906 the initial building is made bigger thanks to semi round glass extensions; in 1959 three glass doors are built to connect to the gardens and 5 private dining rooms are imagined on the ground floor and the first floor. The beautiful terraces are built on top of the semi round rooms and when the weather allows they give Laurent a little touch of the South in the heart of Paris. This is an exceptional place, out of time, for a crowd of refined bourgeois sometimes, sometimes for business people... Laurent has seen all heads of state, all the famous names in show business too. The cuisine here knows how to please the most demanding taste buds, the service and welcome also contribute to the establishment’s reputation. For a romantic dinner the place is perfect, especially the elegant rotunda, perfect for a private moment, or if you want a family banquet or professional event, you will be at ease in one of the numerous private dining rooms. The charm at Laurent’s is of course also the garden-restaurant, hidden away behind hedges, close to the Hittorff fountain. When the weather allows, for lunch or dinner, you will enjoy a lazy moment in the shade of the chestnut trees. The Chef composes a special menu for ideal gourmet guests, inspired by creations of the season, selected daily with great care. He is a man of traditions and he will know how to please the most demanding palates.
