Le Procope

The 6th district, Paris’ Saint Germain des Prés area… Le Procope is one the capital’s oldest restaurants. It was created in 1686 and a lot of famous names have been guests here : Voltaire, Alfred de Musset, Diderot, d’Alembert, Verlaine, Benjamin Franklin… On the beautiful facade with its wrought iron balconies you will find portraits of those personalities who have incidentally given one of the Procope’s dining rooms their name : the whole restaurant is truly inhabited by these four centuries of history and culture. The prestigious interior speaks for itself: mirrors, red leather seats, refined crockery, portraits, elegant lamps, libraries of old books, it is magic and it works. On the wall of one of the private dining rooms you will find the Declaration of Human rights dating back to 1789.
