This is most certainly an exceptional establishment. Located in a region where the cuisine is closely linked to local products, in a décor of old stones, the Maison Tourangelle is a country house on the banks of the Cher, between Tours and Villandry. A beautiful terrace offers an amazing view to troglodyte caves, carved out in “tuffeau” stone, the stone used to build the Renaissance châteaux. A few luxury rooms are available above the restaurant, with a view to the river.
The “Maison Tourangelle” is one of those places where pleasure seems to be the keyword. The décor is sobre, refined but not too much, the large dining room offers a nice and relaxing view out to the Cher River.
Admirably modernized by Frédéric and Maria, this stop is characterized by the hosts’ kindness and a most welcome professionalism.
Frédéric Arnaud is truly from the Tours region; his knowledge was acquired with Bernard Loiseau, Georges Blanc and Alain Ducasse. He certainly knows how to value regional products, selected with care, and he composes a modern kind of cuisine, very varied and according to the seasons. A cuisine with a personality able to satisfy even the most demanding taste buds; the service is very well orchestrated in a pleasant atmosphere.
The terrace is really enjoyable when the weather allows with an amazing view out to the quiet countryside.
This “Maison Tourangelle” is really a favourite for us, for the place, for Maria and Frédéric and for a menu that is really good value for money. The ideal gourmet menu is an invitation to discover the Chef’s talent, let yourself be guided and you will not be disappointed…
